About the Client
The broadcasting network was conceived in 1995 catering to the Telugu-speaking community. The 24×7 satellite channel produces and broadcasts a range of entertainment including reality shows, devotional programs, feature films, fiction and non-fiction serials, sport events, and live telecasts, among others. It is notable that this infotainment brand is part of Ramoji Group, a conglomerate with diverse business interests.
Problem/Challenges
Television, online browsers, mobile applications – the client’s broadcasting radar kept expanding. With the increasing number of features and elements, there was an increasing demand for testing to ensure glitch-free streaming. The biggest challenge was to zero in on the smallest of issues that easily go unnoticed. Surface level problems such as video/audio quality or buffering are easy to catch and fix but the subtle issues such as user load and security that have a major impact on user experience and eventually, rating.
Solution
To combat and cater to possible challenges, Impiger deployed its expert testing team to carry out extensive procedures. The application had to be tested all day long across multiple devices (different brands and models of smartphones, smart TVs, laptops, and other handheld devices) to compare video quality, buffer status, how it picks up network, and more. Applications also had to be tested by real users situated in international regions for content streaming and subscription payment flow. Testers conduct memory and battery consumption tests to determine what causes the battery to drain and memory to overclock. Most importantly, applications are tested for security vulnerabilities with great scrutiny.
